In order to examine and explore the contributions and ongoing challenges facing West Africa in the fight to achieve meaningful justice and accountability for atrocities in the region, the Wayamo Foundation, AGJA and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung will hold a symposium on 21 and 22 March 2019, under the banner of “West African International Justice – Leadership, Challenges, and Opportunities”.

To hold the sixth round of its “Fighting Impunity in East Africa” project, the Wayamo Foundation returned to where it had all begun…Arusha, Tanzania.  Here, in the shadow of Mt. Meru, an intensive, week-long series of events was organised within the framework of an initiative funded by the German Foreign Ministry, co-hosted by the Africa Group for Justice and Accountability (AGJA), and fittingly entitled “BEYOND NARROW INTERESTS – JUSTICE AND ACCOUNTABILITY IN EAST AFRICA”.

The Wayamo Foundation hosted an expert meeting on 17-18 May in Nairobi, Kenya, on the documentation of international crimes and human rights violations for future accountability purposes. The meeting explored how best to use existing open-source information (OSI) collection mechanisms in the context of the current armed conflict in Sudan.
