Nairobi legal and media workshops for Sudanese civil society and the justice sector

As part of our two-year “Capacity building for civil society and the justice sector in Sudan” project, the Wayamo Foundation has just completed two introductory workshops in Nairobi, Kenya, for Sudanese civil society and the justice sector on how best to draw upon international criminal law and practice to further the mission of achieving accountability via national justice systems for international crimes in Sudan. The events were generously supported by the Dutch Foreign Ministry.

Specialist Media Engagement in Abuja: Networking for Justice and Accountability

On 21 May 2021, Wayamo hosted its third media engagement for Nigerian journalists who work on issues pertaining to international criminal justice and accountability. The objective of these meetings is to strengthen reporting skills and build knowledge on critical justice-related issues affecting the region, ranging from the role of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in Nigeria to security challenges and the domestic prosecution of alleged Boko Haram suspects.

On 9 February, Wayamo hosted its second media engagement for journalists who work on issues pertaining to international criminal justice and accountability. The event followed a hybrid model, with journalists attending from Abuja, Nigeria, and the majority of the experts joining participants via Zoom.
