From 11-13 September 2023, the Wayamo Foundation convened a three-day workshop for journalists in Nairobi titled “Responsible Media for Justice and Accountability in Sudan” aimed at enhancing media reporting on justice-related matters within the context of Sudan.
Nairobi workshop on modern forms of evidence and universal jurisdiction
The Wayamo Foundation hosted a three-day workshop in Nairobi, Kenya, from 6-8 September 2023, on the topic of “modern forms of evidence and the potential application of universal jurisdiction in the East African region for international crimes committed in Sudan.”
Abuja workshop: Investigating and prosecuting conflict-related sexual violence
Following three successful training sessions in 2022, the Wayamo Foundation, in collaboration with the United Nations Team of Experts on the Rule of Law and Sexual Violence in Conflict (UNTOE) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), held their fourth workshop in Abuja from 30 January – 3 February 2023.

Nairobi legal and media workshops for Sudanese civil society and the justice sector
As part of our two-year “Capacity building for civil society and the justice sector in Sudan” project, the Wayamo Foundation has just completed two introductory workshops in Nairobi, Kenya, for Sudanese civil society and the justice sector on how best to draw upon international criminal law and practice to further the mission of achieving accountability via national justice systems for international crimes in Sudan. The events were generously supported by the Dutch Foreign Ministry.
Investigating and prosecuting conflict-related sexual violence in Nigeria
Building on the formula so successfully applied at the previous Abuja training session in November 2021, the Wayamo Foundation, working for the first time in close partnership with the United Nations Team of Experts on the Rule of Law and Sexual Violence in Conflict and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), held two back-to-back workshops in Abuja.
The creation of an electronic case-file database to build complex cases
From 9 to 11 August 2021, the Wayamo Foundation held a workshop on the creation of an electronic case-file database within Nigeria’s Complex Casework Group (CCG), covering aspects ranging from the case-filing system to a purpose-designed ICC criminality assessment form and optimal use of Intella software.
Second training session for Nigeria’s Serious Crimes Response Team
The second SCRT training session took place over the span of three days: from 11 to 13 August 2021, participants and local experts gathered at Epe Resort in Lagos, with some international experts joining via Zoom.
