The Wayamo Foundation has organised workshops for Sudanese human rights professionals and journalists (including those documenting the conflict) in the context of its ongoing project “Capacity building for civil society and the justice sector in Sudan”. This video highlights the impacts of Wayamo’s work on trainees in the Sudanese human rights and legal sectors.
The project focuses on providing training in international criminal law, international humanitarian law and human rights to journalists, civil society and legal actors, both in Sudan and the wider East African region aimed at building a coalition committed to addressing impunity through regional and domestic accountability measures.
Well-trained journalists and informed citizens are able to take a fuller participatory role in their countries’ democratic processes are key to enhancing local ownership of justice and accountability.
